Ed Manguiat receives the trophy as UPSA was recognized and elevated just recently to the ALIW HALL OF FAME for achieving recognitions for the Best Choral Group in 2011, 2010 and 2002.

Founded in 1976 by a group of journalists headed by Ms. Alice H. Reyes, the Aliw Awards Foundation, Inc. aims to elevate the standards of Philippine live entertainment to recognize achievements in the live entertainment industry in the Philippines. It is the pioneer in giving awards for excellence in theater, opera, dance, live vocal & instrumental shows and achievement in live entertainment industry.

The WHO’S WHO IN THE PHILIPPINES (WWP) Proudly Pinoy Excellence Award, held every 3 years since 1990, is a prestigious national tribute conferred on World-class Filipino Home-grown Outstanding Products & Companies and Outstanding Achievers in Business, Entertainment, Sports and other professional fields. This is UPSA's 2nd time to win the same award given by WWP.

The UP Singing Ambassadors (UPSA) participated for the 3rd time in this prestigious Arezzo competitions. It won two First Prizes - in the Romantic Period Music & Folklore Music Festival (which also determined the Prize of the Public) and 2nd Place in the Mixed Choirs Choirs Category. UPSA also qualified for the Grand Prix round together with choirs from Slovenia, Spain and Italy. This year the Grand Prize was given to APZ Tone Tomšič from Ljubljana,  Slovenia. The UPSA won the Arezzo Grand Prize in 2001 and represented the Arezzo competitions in the 2002 European Grand Prize for Choral Singing also held in Arerzzo, Italy. Similarly, UPSA won the Public's Prize in 1992 during its 1st international tour.

UPSA recently received support from its benefactor - the PJ Lhuillier Group of Companies, through its PJ Lhuillier Foundation Inc.,  Amb. Philippe J. Lhullier, Chairman, PJ Lhullier Group of Companies, and Jean Henri Lhullier, President and CEO of PJ Lhullier Group of Companies - for its "8th European Competitions & Goodwill Tour 2012." The occasion was held during the Amb. Philippe and Señorita Edna's 44th Wedding Anniversary. The assistance was made possible through the endorsement of UPSA friend Atty. Cesar Vidal.

Dennis Wright, President of Peregrine Development International Inc, and Edwin Birkins, Vice President & Finance Officer - confirmed its patronage to UPSA's "8th European Competitions & Goodwill Tour 2012" through the administration of its prime project Global Gateway Logistics City (GGLC) now formally known as the Sabah Al-Ahmad Global Gateway Logistics City, a modern and world-class, state-of-the-art, master-planned business park with a total investment of 3billion dollars from Kuwait. It occupies 177 hectares in the Clark Freeport Zone, and is being developed by Peregrine International, a privately-owned American company with a portfolio in project development, program management, engineering, construction, operation, maintenance, and logistics. 

Offering the perfect blend of prime real estate and facilities for business needs, GGLC is divided into four zones -- the Logistics Park catering to all warehousing, distribution and light manufacturing operations; the Business Park for all office requirements; the Aero Park, home to research and development, modeling and simulation, IT and centers of higher learning; and the Town Center to support retail and shopping needs.
